Gettin' Froggy ALL week!!

Yes, friends! I said it!! We got our frog on this week!

Seriously, not my favourite things in the world but my kids have been lovin' them all week! Our story this week is "The Kite" from the Frog and Toad series.

I love this one, especially when Toad shouts, "Up, Kite, Up!" Sounds so like me when my kite doesn't go up, either! Or when I go bowling and I hurdle the ball down the lane and I look at it anxiously and jump up and down as if my vibrations will somehow make the ball turn and go down the middle and get a strike!

Can you relate?? LOL!

Anyhow, we moved on to another favourite story, "The Lost Button" and we wrote riddles and made buttons. Some buttons weren't finished when I was taking pictures but this one was! We are having a riddle party tomorrow!

Then we made these cuties! Frog life cycle head bands! They loved it! I introduced them to the frog life cycle with this great song from the Singing Biologist. It has a catchy reggae beat to it! I've caught myself singing it this week!

Though, I do think the highlight of their week was playing "Would you like flies with that?" a phonics game I made to help practice our phonics patterns this week! I don't know about you but anytime I can use everyday things, in this case a fly swatter, to help make learning fun, I am all for it! They swatted flies and had to sort them into the correct "french fly" boxes!

All these centers are in my Gettin' Froggy With It Pack! You can check it out here

To help tie this all in, today we went to see the play, All Year with Frog and Toad! AMAZING!!!

This was all I was allowed to take a picture of!

Again, my fabulous team!!! I lub them very much!!!

Me and my own sweet firstie!! It is such a blessing (some days a test of patience at the end of the day when I have to get stuff done!!!!) to have him with me at school everyday!

Next week, we have a 3 day week with kiddos and then a teacher work day for grades then SPRING BREAK (run-on sentence!! I know!!)! The beach is calling my name!!! In the meantime, we will be doing St. Patrick's Day centers on Monday.  You can read about my magical pudding that I will be doing again here! The kids go crazy for this! I am also leaving you with two fun centers to help bring some Irish fun to your classroom!! To download these fun freebies, please click on the cover pages! If you download, please leave feedback! I'd love to know what you think! :-)

Happy Friday tomorrow!

Dr. Seuss Week in Review, Place Value, and Frogs!!

It's Sunday, friends! Trying to get back on the bloggy horse! Did you remember to Spring forward?? My sweet friend, Faith from 1st Grade Fantabulous posted this graphic to help remind us!

Although I really didn't want the reminder that I was losing an hour of sleep, I knew it was a losing battle because it was going to happen anyway!!LOL! Thanks Faith for such a cute and helpful reminder!!! Plus it didn't help that I went to bed at 2 a.m.-- I mean really 3, right? LOL! I'll spend all day on fast forward!

Last week was a great week with the good doctor-- Dr. Seuss. I managed to capture some pictures from our fun week. I had forgotten to take some so here are just some highlights:

Some I had already posted in Primary Chalkboard's linky but I wanted to post again because they are so cute!!! We did the Lorax on Friday and made the cutest hats but it was such a wack-a-doo day that I had no time! I will have to see if my intern managed to snap a few to share with you!

This week is review week for us to practice place value before our district assessment. The district assessments, to me, are NO JOKE. So this week, we will be working on Math Centers to get our kiddos ready for the assessment next week. If you are teaching place value, I highly suggest beginning to teach the concept with the bean sticks! I know I've said it before, but I swear to you that the kids really got it!

All it takes is just some Lima beans, tongue depressors, and glue! It did take us about a week to make (drying time and such) but they got it. For more ideas on how I used bean sticks you can read about them
here

Here are some videos I found (there are few for primary but some for upper that are great for regrouping!)

I also uploaded two new centers along with an oldie but goodie to help us review place value this week! Click on the pictures to take you to my store if you'd like to check them out!

This week we are studying all about Frogs!!

EEK! Personally, I detest frogs but will sucking it up for the love of my students! We will be reading non-fiction and writing about frogs as well as studying two of my favourite fictional characters:

Frog and Toad! I just love them! And am super excited because our kids will be seeing a play about them as well! So, I had to bring out my centers for Frog and Toad! I will be updating this pack so be on the lookout for it but here is a picture of one of the centers included!

The kids love this center! I will be posting more pictures of this pack in action this week! :-)

Hope you all have a super week!

Gettin' Froggy With It!!

You know that you're singing it! I am going to keep this post short as my poor teacher head is tired as I just posted a new unit on TPT-- Gettin' Froggy With It! This week we will be reading Frog and Toad (one of my favourite stories) and learning about frogs. We might sneak in some St. Patrick's day stuff, too as it is one of my favourite holidays!

Here is a picture of one of my favourite centres from that unit: "Would You Like Flies with That?" (Actually there is a funny Asian person story behind that but that will be saved for another day...) Students will have to swat "i" words like mind, light, and try and place them in "french fly" boxes. How fun times is that?? LOVE IT!!!

Today we had a teacher duty day which was nice as I had a chance to do grades and such but alas, my filing was still undone!!!! It is such a burden to walk by it each day *le-sigh..... What can you do? Only so many hours in a day... So, my question to you is.. what is one thing you know you always need to do but always seem to always run out of time to do?

Have a good night!
